RECCO rescue system first time in Fjällräven’s apparel

Stockholm, Sweden – June, 2017 – The Swedish brand Fjällräven's new collection Bergtagen, fall/winter 2017, is a functional and technical clothing line that is made for activities above the tree line. In conjunction with the launch of Bergtagen, Fjällräven has for the first time chosen to integrate RECCO reflectors into a collection, which makes the carrier searchable in avalanches.

The new Bergtagen line, developed in collaboration with a number of outdoor experts, is intended for anyone who spends long periods in the mountains. Fjällräven has also initiated a partnership with the Swedish Mountain Guide Organization, SBO, by supporting education and equipping guides with apparel from the Bergtagen line.

The RECCO reflector is integrated in apparel for both women and men: Bergtagen Jacket/Trousers and Bergtagen Eco-Shell Jacket/Trousers.

"With RECCO reflectors integrated in the clothes, those who end up in a avalanche or disappear in a crevasse can be found faster by professional rescuers in the area. The RECCO system is being used by more than 800 ski resorts, rescue organizations and helicopter companies worldwide," says Johan Sauer, VP RECCO AB.

More than 200 brands currently have RECCO reflectors built into all or parts of their product range, such as ski and snowboard wear, boots, helmets, backpacks and back protections. This means that products labeled with RECCO's logotype make the user automatically searchable throughout the life of the product. The reflector does not need to be activated, requires neither maintenance nor battery replacement and is always "turned on".

RECCO® advanced rescue technology makes outdoor enthusiasts searchable to rescuers in case of an avalanche accident or when lost in the outdoors. The technology builds on a two-part radar system. Rescuers carry RECCO® detectors that send out search signals which are echoed by RECCO® reflectors, carried by the user. RECCO® detectors are used worldwide at more than 900 ski resorts and mountain rescue organizations in 32 countries. RECCO® reflectors are integrated into select apparel, helmets, protection gear and boots manufactured by more than 150 leading outdoor brands. RECCO AB was founded in 1983 in Sweden and is owned by its founder Magnus Granhed and the publicly traded investment company Traction AB (listed on OMX Nordic Exchange Stockholm).
