World launch of electric off-road motorcycle with RECCO reflector

The Swedish company CAKE is launching its first electric off-road motorcycle. All components are made from scratch to optimize the riding performance and environmental sustainability. To add safety to the outdoor experience the bike is equipped with a RECCO reflector, which makes it searchable to professional rescuers in case of an accident.
The safety aspect comes naturally to CAKE as its founder and CEO, Stefan Ytterborn, also was the founder of the safety brand POC: ”With RECCO having developed their SAR technology, it makes sense to anybody exploring the outdoors, summer or winter, to equip themselves with RECCO reflectors for effective rescue”.
The use of the RECCO system for outdoor adventures fits perfectly with RECCO’s efforts to roll out the new helicopter SAR detectors on select locations, turning RECCO into a year round system for Search and Rescue..
“We are very excited to have RECCO reflectors be an integrated part of the CAKE bikes from day one. The CAKE bikes are made to attracting a possibly new group of users into the outdoors. Making them searchable to professional rescuers in case of an emergency makes sense for the user as well as for the rescuer”, says Johan Sauer”, Vice President RECCO..
The model, named KALK, is a first among a number of models to come. CAKE’s mission is to speed up the journey towards a zero emission society, while enhancing excitement and fun. The fact that it’s nearly silent boosts the experience and the same time enhancing the level of respect towards the surroundings whether it’d be fellow hikers or wild animals. Also the cleanliness has numerous sides to it. One is that the bike is chargeable with renewable energy or even with the solar panels from CAKE..
RECCO® advanced rescue technology makes outdoor enthusiasts searchable to rescuers in case of an avalanche accident or when lost in the outdoors. The technology builds on a two-part radar system. Rescuers carry RECCO® detectors that send out search signals which are echoed by RECCO® reflectors, carried by the user. RECCO® detectors are used worldwide at more than 900 ski resorts and mountain rescue organizations in 32 countries. RECCO® reflectors are integrated into select apparel, helmets, protection gear and boots manufactured by more than 150 leading outdoor brands. RECCO AB was founded in 1983 in Sweden and is owned by its founder Magnus Granhed and the publicly traded investment company Traction AB (listed on OMX Nordic Exchange Stockholm).
