RECCO, global manufacturer of rescue technology that enables faster searches for missing people in the backcountry, welcomes Lange, the longtime leader in ski boots, to its growing family of brands committed to making people more searchable in the outdoors. With the launch of the Lange Code 140 freeride boot, Lange introduces its first product equipped with an integrated RECCO reflector, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to safety and innovation in the mountains.

Lange joins more than 150 leading outdoor and sports brands that integrate RECCO reflectors into their products, enabling organized rescue teams to locate missing or buried individuals faster using the RECCO detector. By integrating a lightweight, passive RECCO reflector directly into the boot, Lange ensures that skiers can be detected by professional rescuers without impacting performance, comfort, or design.

Lange has always stood for power and precision. Bringing RECCO technology into our boot extends that commitment to the safety of every freerider," says Juliette Deschamps, Category Manager Women – Communication Manager Lange.

CODE reflects the brand’s passion for pushing the boundaries of skiing, day after day. Not just breaking the mold, but reinventing it. The CODE boot redefines freeride performance. Like a perfect line of code, every detail is optimized for a smooth, error-free, and safe experience, allowing skiers to fully focus on what matters: their tracks. CODE guarantees the same downhill performance that Lange has always been renowned for, now with an even more powerful and easy-to-use walk mode. The pro model, available in a 140 flex, offers enhanced safety thanks to the integrated RECCO reflector, making the wearer searchable to professional rescue teams in case of an avalanche.

The RECCO system continues to expand globally, with detectors deployed at more than 900 locations across 32 countries, including ski resorts and rescue organizations. The continuously growing network strengthens search and rescue capabilities for both in-bounds and backcountry incidents, supporting faster response times when every minute matters.

The RECCO handheld detector can search efficiently in an avalanche situation, while the RECCO SAR Helicopter Detector can quickly search large areas, covering a square kilometer in six minutes, which makes it an efficient tool to search for missing people year-round. The RECCO SAR detector network continues to grow with more and more placements being added. Currently, there are 45 RECCO SAR Helicopter Detectors globally, with 14 located in North America, 28 units deployed across Europe, one in Nepal and two in New Zealand.

“By integrating RECCO technology, Lange is helping create an environment where more people are searchable, more rescues are possible, and mountain safety continues to improve,” said Fredrik Steinwall, CEO at RECCO.It’s an exciting time for RECCO as our network continues to grow across Europe and North America.”

The Lange Code 140 freeride boot will be available in stores and online starting in Fall 2026.
