RECCO Rescue Network Grows With Additional Brand Partners

Press release

February 07, 2022

Use of RECCO Technology is on constant rise world-wide as additional SAR Helicopters deployed, new brands integrate RECCO into consumer offerings. RECCO Rescue technology, based on the simple, nearly indestructible and easy to use RECCO Reflector, is poised to reach critical mass as additional brands are integrating RECCO Reflectors into their products and two new RECCO SAR Helicopter rescue systems have been deployed.

The exciting news about the RECCO SAR rescue helicopter deployments comes from both the state of California, USA, and Vernon, Canada, expanding the RECCO rescue helicopter network to 27 locations globally (18 in Europe and 9 in North America) and making the outdoors safer for everyone. Flying at a speed up to 100 km/h the RECCO detector scans an area beneath the helicopter with a corridor up to 100 m wide. The RECCO SAR helicopter detector can cover 1 km² of forests and mountain terrain within 6 minutes.

“We are very excited to present new brand partners, with whom we expand the rescue network globally. By adding RECCO reflectors to products and equipment, our brand partners help the rescue community save lives,” says Fredrik Steinwall, CEO at RECCO.

The family of RECCO’s brand partners and equipped products is also rapidly growing, with the addition of Jones, Scarpa (new product), Artilect Studio and Singular Society (part of H&M group) that rely on RECCO technology to add an additional layer of safety and searchability to the consumers of their products. Jones, the respected snowboarding brand founded by professional rider Jeremy Jones, feature RECCO reflectors in the company’s jackets and pants, while Scarpa, already integrating reflectors into ski boots, includes the reflector in its Scarpa Phantom 6000 boot and Singular Society will integrate the technology into the brand’s jackets and pants.

"We are using RECCO technology to provide our members with an additional safety detail in their ski wear. As a market leader the RECCO reflectors will make our garments searchable by rescue professionals worldwide," says Johan Ullbro, Design & Product development at Singular Society.

As more and more people visit the outdoors in search of the calming and healing impacts of nature, the expansion of the RECCO rescue network and the expansion of brands that are integrating RECCO reflectors into their consumer products is an exciting development.

RECCO® advanced rescue technology makes outdoor enthusiasts searchable to rescuers in case of an avalanche accident or when lost in the outdoors. The technology builds on a two-part radar system. Rescuers carry RECCO® detectors that send out search signals which are echoed by RECCO® reflectors, carried by the user. RECCO® detectors are used worldwide at more than 900 ski resorts and mountain rescue organizations in 32 countries. RECCO® reflectors are integrated into select apparel, helmets, protection gear and boots manufactured by more than 150 leading outdoor brands. RECCO AB was founded in 1983 in Sweden and is owned by its founder Magnus Granhed and the publicly traded investment company Traction AB (listed on OMX Nordic Exchange Stockholm).
