Suplest First Brand to Integrate RECCO Technology into Cycling Shoes

Press release

March 04, 2022

Suplest, a Swiss cycling shoe company, has built a global reputation on making one product only – cycling shoes. With shoes that are renowned for combining comfort and performance, Suplest has now added RECCO rescue reflectors into their product line to include a crucial additional feature – safety.

“Suplest is very pleased to be the first cycling shoe brand using RECCO technology in its shoes. The Alps are the perfect playground of our Trail shoes and we believe it makes lots of sense to add the RECCO reflector into the shoes, just in case to be searchable if needed,” says Daniel Balmer, Suplest Shoes.

Suplest presents their new 2022 Trail collection, featuring their Pro and Performance Trail cycling shoes with integrated RECCO reflectors, the first-ever cycling shoes to contain RECCO Rescue Technology. The integrated, lightweight and durable RECCO reflector allows the wearer to be searchable by professional rescue teams, giving professional rescuers the ability to quickly locate lost or injured cyclists even in the most remote and complex terrain thanks to RECCO’s SAR Helicopter Detector system.

The RECCO SAR Helicopter Detector can quickly search large areas, covering 1 km2   within 6 minutes. Besides shortening search time, the helicopter-based detector can reduce the time and the exposure to risk for rescue workers during search missions, making for faster and more effective operations.

“We are very excited to enter the cycling shoe market together with Suplest. The biking industry is quickly growing worldwide, making it an important outdoor segment where we wish to equip more people with reflectors, in order to help the rescue community save more lives,” says Fredrik Steinwall, CEO at RECCO.

RECCO technology already exists in biking helmets, but this is the first time cycling shoes containing the technology are available to consumers within this outdoor segment. The full 2022 Trail collection will be available in retail stores from mid-March 2022, in EU countries as well in the Suplest Online Shop.
